Western Power Distribution Depot Refurbishment

The WPD property department purchased and leased several industrial/distribution units throughout the Midlands. Halligan Associates were involved at the early stages of the project to assess the suitability of the units from a services aspect.

Critically, the initial 8 Depots were to completed by November 2011, to allow the FFE & computer equipment to be installed prior to the Central Networks IT infrastructure being turned off. To achieve this, the time scale from starting on site to PC was 8 weeks.

Halligan Associates specified the Mechanical & Electrical systems, including; standby generators, UPS, distribution, lighting, small power, data, fire alarm, security systems, ventilation, VRF air conditioning, hot and cold water. External services included lighting, fuel stations, jet wash areas and weigh bridges.

All Buildings were required to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good, which was achieved for all units. Halligan Associates worked closely with the BREEAM assessor to achieve this and provided all the required SBEM & EPC’s for the buildings to achieve compliance.

During 2013 and 2014, additional depots have been completed including Spilsby depot that achieved a BREEAM rating of OUTSTANDING.
