Martin left secondary education to commence his practical electrical career as a JIB Apprentice before joining WS Atkins to train as an Electrical Design Engineer. As part of his training, Martin successfully completed the HTEC HNC in Electrical Engineering and Power Electronics at Dudley College of Technology. Subsequently, throughout his career, Martin has worked mainly for Birmingham based Consultancy Companies and a major Design and Build Contractor.

Vast experience has been obtained over the last 40 years working on UK construction projects of all sizes and complexity.

A good understanding of vertical transportation has been achieved through writing performance specifications, liaison with lift manufacturers, witness testing and site inspections.

Away from work, leisure activities and interests include, FI car racing, MOTOGP bike racing, Aston Villa FC, country walking, gym/ circuit training, gravel biking and road cycling.
